The primary function of this position is to assist Generations Federal Credit Union live our Mission, Do the Right Thing for our members. One of the primary means to achieve this is to develop a highly effective team and to develop each employee to their highest potential through coaching and leadership. The AVP of Commercial Loan Administration supports the management of the commercial loan portfolio via oversight of the loan documentation/funding process, management of credit file maintenance, and ongoing portfolio monitoring/reporting.  The Loan Administration Manager will work closely with team members and other internal partners to facilitate accurate and compliant loan closings as well as the ongoing maintenance of current credit/portfolio information, including the clearing of documentation exceptions.  The AVP also manages the day to day activities of the Department’s loan administration staff, including supervision and training/coaching.  Serves as subject matter expert on commercial lending issues; educates/counsels members and staff on appropriate credit based issues.  Supports and participates in all commercial lending initiatives.

Primary Duties

  1. Manages the day to day operations of the Commercial Services Department’s loan administration personnel.  Supervises, trains, motivates employees.  Provides feedback to management with respect to the staff’s performance, disciplinary issues, attendance, etc.  Performs coaching, documenting, and improving skills levels of staff.
  2. Hires, trains, and mentors staff.  Responsible general supervisory duties for development, planning, and scheduling of staff.
  3. Responsible for the administration and management of the commercial loan administration process, including loan documentation, closing/funding, lien perfection, collateral tracking, and file maintenance, including document exception reporting.  Serves as subject matter expert in all aspects of post-approval loan activity.
  4. Manages and monitors commercial loan portfolio on an ongoing, day-to-day, and transactional basis working in close partnership with the Commercial Relationship Portfolio Manager. Monitors note rate re-pricing and other pre-and post-closing tasks.
  5. Acts as a primary liaison during the closing process with members, attorneys, inspectors, and title company representatives. Ensures all terms of the loan as approved are incorporated in the loan documents.
  6. Ensures all closing conditions are met and loans are closed within prescribed timeframes. Responsible for setting up and monitoring loan and financial ticklers to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  7. Prepares information to ensure proper loan boarding into core system.
  8. Maintains commercial loan file system with sufficient documentation for third-party review, prepares files for timely audits.
  9. Manages all aspects of SBA loan process, including application submission and ongoing portfolio reporting to SBA.
  10. Serves as primary liaison for external loan systems/service providers.  Oversees implementation of updates as needed.
  11. Demonstrates compliance with all credit union regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities.  Follows all credit union policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual required or job-specific training.
  12. May be asked to manage, coach, mentor, or train others as department manager or subject matter expert.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.


Bachelor’s degree in Business or equivalent experience


Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience of commercial loan administration experience, to include Commercial Real Estate lending as well as Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending.  Advanced technical expertise in commercial loan closing and administration of commercial loan portfolios.  Small Business Administration (SBA) experience a plus.
